The following materials are work products from positions I held at the UW-Madison Libraries Teaching & Learning Programs Office, the Madison Public Library, and the West Bend Library.
Library Instruction
I created a new online learning module called Reading Scholarly Articles for the UW-Madison Libraries. This course, developed in Articulate Rise, provides an overview of the parts of a scholarly article as well as strategies for reading and understanding academic texts. I also quality reviewed and edited the UW-Madison Libraries micro-courses and other learning objects for accessibility and accuracy.
As part of a library pedagogy course at UW-Madison, I produced the following tutorials:
- Video tutorial: Adding Video Captions in Kaltura MediaSpace
- Workshop series plan: National Novel Writing Month
- Lesson plan: Creating Accessible Google Docs
- Lesson plan: Discord for Public Libraries
Marketing Materials
I developed a marketing plan, designed social media graphics and a testimonials flier, and wrote social media copy to promote Madison Public Library (WI)’s partnership with Madison Writing Assistance (MWA). MWA is a UW–Madison initiative that invites the community to meet with trained graduate student Writing Center coaches:
At both MPL and West Bend Library (WI), I wrote a series of short posts advertising upcoming events and library resources:
Web & Social Graphics
- Carousel Graphics: A selection of graphics I made to promote programs on the West Bend Library homepage. These appeared on a rotating image carousel and were each accompanied by information about the program.
- WBL Social Graphics: A selection of graphics I made to promote programs on the WBL Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Madison Public Library Social Graphics: A selection of graphics I made to promote programs on the MPL social media pages and on digital displays in the libraries.
Adult Programming Fliers (Print)
I coordinated with all West Bend Library departments to produce monthly fliers with information about all of the upcoming adult programs.
Writing Resources (Print)
I researched, wrote, and designed printable guides to hand out during writing events I planned or facilitated at the West Bend Library.
- A Beginner’s Guide to Planning and Attending a Do-It-Yourself Writing Retreat (NaNoWriMo 2021)
- Resources for Writers (NaNoWriMo 2021)
- Introduction to Poetry Forms (National Poetry Month 2022)
In-Library Displays
I researched and wrote copy, designed graphics, and selected books for museum-style displays in the West Bend Library’s adult reading area. This is a selection of the monthly (and sometimes weekly) displays I created.
